REV Group brings one of the toughest trucks to the yard. Capacity Trucks, a 40-year-old global-leader in terminal tractors for ports, warehouse operations and intermodal facilities, has long been respected for its on-the-job ruggedness, but now Capacity will be able to offer the same durability with an economical engine package.
Capacity has entered into an exclusive agreement with Volvo Penta to offer the EPA Tier 4 Final engine across the Capacity lineup. Volvo Penta is a global manufacturer of engines for leisure boats and commercial vessels, as well as industrial applications. Capacity is currently testing Volvo Penta’s 173HP and 214HP engines, and it expects to debut the four-cylinder engine in early 2017 to the market. The Volvo Penta offering will be exclusive to Capacity for one full year. In addition to the Volvo Penta, Capacity will continue to offer the Cummins engine, available in 164HP or 200 HP, as well as two green alternative engines, a CNG engine or a LNG option.
Capacity will head to Cancun, Mexico, for the TOC Americas conference and exhibition, where discussion of engines will be a common theme. Capacity recently shared its Volvo Penta news at the IANA Intermodal Expo in Huston, touting Volvo Penta’s fuel efficiency
and return-on-investment, which makes it the perfect complement to the ever-reliable Capacity products. With Capacity, durability never clocks out thanks to the Sabre Series’ industry-first 110,000-PSI steel frame rails and the export-favorite TJ Series’ all-steel, welded-frame construction.
“We were looking to give our customers a choice in power sources,” explained Andy Cooper, director of engineering for Capacity Trucks. “After evaluating several players in the industry, we selected Volvo Penta as the engine that will provide our customers with the best ROI. The Volvo name is well-known in the industry, and their engines have a reputation for quality and reliability that meet our own rigorous standards.”
Volvo Penta’s Tier 4F engines use a proven selective catalytic reduction process with cooled exhaust gas recirculation to meet EPA emission standards and do not require periodic regeneration, resulting in less downtime and lower maintenance costs.
