It’s been a year — almost exactly to the date — since REV Group announced its new corporate brand. Departing from the name Allied Specialty Vehicles, the company has lived up to the momentum the word ‘REV’ embodies. With a new year ahead, it seems only fitting to provide a short recap of the company’s 2016 accomplishments:
When the company re-introduced itself to the market under the REV name, 23 brands were represented under the corporate umbrella. Since then, REV’s portfolio has grown to 27 brands. In April, REV acquired Kovatch Mobile Equipment Corp. (KME), which manufacturers a full line of custom fire apparatuses. The brand prides itself on producing its own cabs, chassis, bodies, tanks and aerial devices as a true sole-source build.
A month later, REV created two new brands — the Frontline ambulance brand and the World Trans bus brand — to establish price-sensitive products in those key markets. Featuring the industry’s fastest lead time of 60 days, Frontline produces Type I and Type II ambulances at a competitive MSRP. Meanwhile, World Trans is revolutionizing the commercial bus industry with a modular design that’s safer, more lightweight and offers a quicker turnaround time than most competition.
Last but not least, REV announced the acquisition of Renegade RV just before the year wrapped up. A leading manufacturer of heavy-duty recreational vehicles, enclosed trailers and specialty vehicles, the brand joins REV Recreation Group’s lineup of American-made RVs. Renegade will operate out of its 200,000-sq.-ft. production facility in Bristol, Ind.
In addition to growing its portfolio, REV also focused on creating distinct product divisions and exclusive production facilities to maximize operational efficiency. REV Bus Group operations are now focused in Kansas, Michigan and California. Meanwhile, REV Specialty Group has shifted operations to Longview, Texas, while the REV Recreation Group continues to expand its footprint in Indiana. (The REV RV campus in Decatur has grown to 180 acres and also features a Class C facility in Goshen and the Renegade RV facility in Bristol.) Finally, REV’s emergency footprint is the largest with fire and ambulance manufacturing facilities in California, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and North Carolina.
In all, REV’s manufacturing facilities cover more than 4 million sq. ft. of space, the equivalent of 70 football fields or 40 city blocks in Manhattan. This efficient manufacturing footprint combines 6,000-plus employees and 16 world-class manufacturing facilities
And while REV’s manufacturing footprint is impressive, the company’s focus on service has given the company an even broader customer reach. Over the course of a year, REV Group has opened 12 regional technical centers, each strategically located to create a massive footprint of convenient service throughout the United States.
As part of this push to better serve customers, REV Recreation Group re-opened the REV Visitor Center following a multimillion renovation. The Visitor Center, located at 1420 Patterson in Decatur, Indiana, is home to REV’s 84,800 sq. ft. East Coast Regional Technical Center, featuring 25 service bays and three paint booths, while the renovated Visitor Center welcomes guests with a two-story addition, open-model atrium and loft-style lounge. In addition to these service centers, REV Group implemented one of the nation’s most innovative dealer parts programs. The REV Dealer Partner program rewards dealerships committed to carrying and selling REV Parts with tiered benefits, and dealers can take advantage of REV’s consignment services for faster vehicle service.
During 2016, REV Group also introduced REV Financial Services™ to connect dealers with affordable financial solutions for its customers, including equipment leasing and full payout loans with fixed or floating rates. The financial division has also begun to roll out a vehicle rental program, as well as REV’s own insurance program. Early in its rollout, we’ll have more to share about these two new programs soon. Watch for more details to come in our company blog.
REV Group upped the momentum in 2016 with a Team Penske racing sponsorship. The multi-year sponsorship, announced in early February of 2016, put REV in the racing spotlight of select 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series races, as well as the Phoenix Grand Prix of the Verizon IndyCar Series. With many of REV’s products already serving the racing industry in some fashion, the Team Penske partnership proved to be the perfect fit.
And at the same time, REV’s motor coach brands attracted the attention of top drivers in the industry. In March, REV presented three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves with his own custom American Coach. Three months later, Ryan Blaney, considered one of the most promising young stars in the Sprint Cup Series, was driving his own REV coach. And in October, CNN caught up with Emerson Fittipaldi, a two-time F1 world champion and Indy 500 winner, also the proud driver of a REV-branded American Coach.
